Fighting between the Houthis and Yemen government forces on Sunday intensified in Al-Jawf as both sides attempted to gain ground.
The Houthis attacked sites controlled by the government, sparking the hostilities, a government field commander said.
"Houthi gunmen launched an attack from three axes on army's sites in Jadafir front," Colonel Mohammed al-Hajji said.
However, the government troops foiled the attack in a battle that left tens of Houthis killed, injured, or captured, according to Hajji.
Earlier, the government forces claimed they thwarted a Houthi offensive in al-Thohra and al-Qoaef fronts in Barat al-Inan district north Jawf.
